PYRAMID OF FIREwho toppled the short-priced favourite in the final race at Mudgee Race Club Inc
This was a return to confidence and a case of tables turned after a couple of middling runs where race pressures prevented him from showing his best.
Today the 5YO and jockey Serg Lisnyy landed a dream spot from a favourable inside barrier and sat pretty while the first-elect was pressured up in front and the tempo turned on.
Dropping back from 1300m a fortnight ago Pyramid Of Fire’s fitness was right on cue and he managed to power away from them once moving up on the inside and into clear galloping room.
It’s a fantastic result for our Darby Racing Syndications owners who get the reward for persisting with a gelding who has always raced consistently but has found the wins hard to capture at times.
