Star apprentice Robbie Dolan gave a succinct assessment of Elm Court’s potential after her Rosehill Gardens win on Saturday: “She is better than a Highway horse.’’
Elm Court, with Dolan wearing the famous Happy Clapper colours of owner Michael Thomas, scored her third win from five starts when she outpointed her older rivals in the TAB Highway (1200m).
“She’s a promising filly, needs to grow a bit as she is still a bit weak but she is doing that easily,’’ enthused Dolan, who rode his 32nd city win this season to extend his lead in the Sydney apprentices premiership.
“She’s still a bit raw and working it out but she is a nice filly building a good record,’’ Dale said.
“I’m confident she will get over a bit further as she develops, too.’’
Elm Court is a potentially eligible for the 2020 Country Championships series unless she races herself out of the series by winning another two races which is a very real possibility given her obvious ability.
